Old Dog Haven

Old Dog Haven consists of a very small group of people with a network of foster homes and supporters providing assisted-living and hospice care for senior dogs in Western Washington.

Their goal is to provide a loving, safe home for senior dogs abandoned at this stage of their lives.

Too many dogs of advanced years are rejected by their owners or, left behind when an elderly owner must give up their beloved pet and no family members want the dog. Instead of living cherished last years in a loving family, they are dumped at shelters where their odds of getting adopted is almost zero. Or, they are passed around to others and ignored or left out in the yard. Many of these dogs are in poor physical condition as well, making them even less appealing for adoption. Helping them is sometimes challenging, is often expensive, but is very, very rewarding.

Old Dog Haven's goal is that a senior dog's last years are happy, and that they pass on feeling safe and at peace, knowing they were loved. Wouldn't we all wish this for our own pets, and for ourselves?

Old Dog Haven has many senior dogs available for adoption.  On the average, there are approximately 100+ dogs in their care and a continually growing waiting list.

"We desperately need dog rescue people here.  We just don't have enough homes for the huge number that need us. We are very good at placing adoptable-age dogs, 8-12 years old though we've placed quite a few smaller breeds older than that."   (Judith P. Executive Director)
