Grendel's New Pal

It seems like Lucy has been part of our family forever - but it's really only been a few months. As our older dog Grendel started to show real signs of aging, we decided it was time to add another dog to the family, both for us and for Grendel.

After spending a few weeks looking and talking to folks, we saw Lucy and couldn't pass her up. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon when we met Lucy. We took her for a long walk in the woods or rather, Lucy took us for a walk - and we saw what a beautiful and smart dog she was. We'd planned to return home and puppy-proof the house as we were going through the adoption process. But, after speaking with AFF's dog trainer, Lucy went home with us early. She was great in the back of the car, snoozing all the way back to Seattle.

We immediately started Lucy in obedience training.  We walked her all the time to get her familiar with the neighborhood and our neighbors. A little timid at first, she quickly gained confidence and strength. She has definitely made us aware of her "princess-like" attitude. Spoiled, indeed.

We are so happy Lucy came to live with us, and we hope she's happy here, as well. Both of our families have come out from Texas and Missouri to meet her. Everyone loves her energy and her beautiful eyes. She's extremely social and we're starting her on play-dates with another friend's pit, a gentle giant named Mars. Those play dates are much needed. Mars is a whopping 85 lbs of pure pit - and under absolute voice command. We're hoping that he can help her get out some of her energy while still behaving like a gentleman. Lucy is up to 50 lbs now and as buff as you can imagine. Maybe Mars can also teach her to bark. She still squeaks when she barks!

We are looking forward to years of silly dog behavior, and very happy that Lucy is a part of our lives.

Thank you for bringing Lucy to us!

Jenny, Todd, Grendel and Lucy
