World, Meet Gus!

After Olive, a beautiful Basset, became our owner in September 2007, we were hooked.  We couldn't help but fall in love with those puppy eyes and those long ears.  We had been searching breeders for another Basset, but decided that we wanted to rescue a floppy-eared friend that needed a good home.

After a few months of searching, we came across Animals First Foundation, that had received a litter of Basset/Bulldog mix puppies.  We made the drive to meet the pups at their foster home and fell in love with them all.  We weren't exactly sure which puppy we were going to choose.  We know in our hearts that Gus chose us.

Gus joined our family two days later!  He has the ears of a Basset but trust us, he snores like a Bulldog!  It has been play-time non-stop around our house since Gus arrived.  Olive couldn't be happier with her new little brother. Banx, our Abyssinian, is thankful that Olive has developed an affection for a new playmate.  We truly feel that it was fate that brought him to us.

We couldn't be more thrilled. He is so well-behaved and listens so unbelievably well, that he is actually teaching his partially stubborn older sister how to correctly follow commands, such as "Come."  Gus comes running as soon as we call and of course, the new little brother can't be showing up the older, more mature sister!  Within the first week, Gus was housebroken and knows American Sign Language for "sit", "stay", "come" and "no" and, we are working on several others.

We can't thank  AFF and Connie (Gus' foster mother) enough for introducing us to him.  He has truly completed our family.
