Love and Patience Rewarded

I am so happy to say my wife and I are the proud new parents of a fabulous rescue. Rainy (formerly Amanda) is everything we could've asked for in a new family member.  When Rainy came into our world, it was like someone handed us a gift in return for the love we have for this wonderful breed.

Being Pit Bull advocates, we have fostered many pups on their way to their forever homes.  I can tell you that it was hard each and every time to let them go, but we knew it was right for them.

Rainy has grown into a healthy and happy dog.  What a difference from when she was initially rescued! She is now full of energy and love. Even though she was severely mistreated and left to just die, her response to new people in her world is with the same innocence you would expect from a curious puppy.  She is extremely social, and takes guidance well from her more seasoned dog friends during her supervised play times.

Rainy spends her days lounging with her new brother Rosco, a miniature schnauzer, and cuddling with Mom and Dad - when they allow it. Rainy & Rosco play well together and have a mutual respect for each other's "bubble."  I can't say it's perfect all the time. She still has some anxieties at kennel time, and can be a bit nervous in unfamiliar situations.  All in all, she is coming along great and we are very happy with her  progress and continued growth.

It is unfortunate and very sad, but there is still that small group of dogs that cannot be brought back from the torment and mistreatment to which they were subjected.  In this particular case, I am so happy to report that our Rainy is the best example of love and patience rewarded.

I cannot urge enough people to take the time and effort to  get themselves the knowledge and respect the Pit Bull breed deserves; to see how wonderful this breed really is. Rainy is a perfect example of what that little investment of time can pay back.

We are thankful everyday for her new triumphs.

K & C

(Amanda - now Rainy, came from a very abusive situation where she endured intense physical and emotional suffering.  She was very close to death but thankfully, was saved in time.  As with most animals that have the admirable ability to forgive, she exhibits no anger or fear towards humans despite the cruel treatment she experienced.  One only has to look at her 'before' photos to know her earlier life was full of neglect, pain and suffering.  But now, thanks to caring people who intervened and her new family, Rainy will have a bright, happy future with people who will love and care for her no matter what.)  -- AFF
